Loren Vaughn, Chief Deputy


Loren was promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office in November 2010. Some of the continuing education courses Loren has attended for his role in criminal investigations include:

  • Countermeasures Tactical Institute Leaders Course
  • Interviews and Interrogations
  • Machine Gun Operator Certification School
  • Forensic Digital Photography
  • Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
  • Shooting Incident Reconstruction

Loren Vaughan was born in Pawhuska Oklahoma in 1975 and then moved to Texas with his family in 1982. He returned to Oklahoma in 1999 and began his career in Law Enforcement with the Hominy Police Department in 2004, earning his CLEET Certification on April 28th, 2006.

Leaving the Hominy Police Department, Loren began a career with the Osage County Sheriff’s Office in July 2006 where he served as a Patrol Deputy working primarily in the southern district of the county.

Loren was promoted to the District 10 Drug Task Force and served as an agent there from October 2007 to November 2010. During his tenure as a drug task force agent, Loren was selected as a K9 handler where he worked with “Maggie” a yellow lab, then “Chico” a Belgian Malinois. Loren is also certified for the cleanup and removal of clandestine Methamphetamine labs and has been involved with the cleanup and removal of an excess of 200 Meth labs. He has attended Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Investigator Course, Keystone K9 Academy, the Scott Donelan Tracking School for Rural Tactical Operations Course and Active shooter/Threat Training as an agent with the DTF.

Loren was promoted to Chief Criminal Deputy by Sheriff Eddie Virden in January of 2017 where he currently serves.
