K-9 Operations


Osage County Sheriff’s Office the use of K-9 Officers who are trained in a variety of canine policing tactics. Currently, the unit is headed by Deputy Kevin Young.

Grant West and K-9 Narc

K-9 Narc is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who was trained in Tulsa, Ok by Torchlight K-9 and donated to the Osage County Sheriff’s office in January 2018.

K-9 Narc is partnered by Deputy Grant West who has been employed with the Osage County Sheriff’s Office since 2015. Narc and Deputy West enjoy training together and since the two became partners the two have completed the mandatory state Certification and continue to train. Narc is a dual purpose K-9 that qualifies him for article searches, Narcotics detection, criminal apprehension, and tracking. When Narc is off duty he enjoys playing fetch and hanging out inside with Deputy West and his family.


Kevin Young and K-9 Roy

K-9 Roy is a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois and is partnered with Sgt. Kevin Young. Roy arrived in the United States from the Netherlands in May of 2015. Roy was trained by Torchlightk9 in Tulsa Oklahoma and Roy came to the Sheriff’s Office in June of 2015 after training. Roy is CLEET certified in narcotics and is trained in article search, tracking and handler protection. Since Roy came to the Sheriff’s Office he has located a countless amount of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia

2016 Statistics:

  • 41 grams methamphetamine
  • Numerous amounts of prescription pills, cocaine and marijuana and 5 illegal firearms some of those being from convicted felons
  • 67 total Narcotic related arrests

  • Apprehensions
    • In the spring of 2016 Roy tracked and apprehended a subject east of Hominy that had stolen a vehicle in Kansas and attempted to gain access to an occupied residence in the county
    • In early summer Roy tracked and apprehended a subject that was armed with an AR-15 rifle. The subject had brutality assaulted his wife and then fled the scene armed with the AR-15 as Deputies arrived to the residence
  • 164 hours of logged training for 2016
